Marco Contini and Sara Chiari from studio_contini received the 2019 sustainability award in the category of non-residential buildings with the primary school built in Loiano in the province of Bologna.

The SUSTAINABILITY AWARD 2019, organized by AESS (Agency for Energy and Sustainable Development), has reached its eighth edition and has seen the participation of the best green projects in Italy.

The award aims to enhance and disseminate good building practices through the selection of projects that have followed the building principles of bio-architecture and energy efficiency, as well as the correct relationship with the place and the local community.

The school built in Loiano had already been selected among the top 10 innovative and sustainable school buildings in the 19th Legambiente Report on the quality of Italian school construction.

The sustainability at the basis of all the projects of studio_contini is interpreted not only as a performance category of the building but as a complex of objectives to be achieved, not only energetic, but also social, economic, comfort and management objectives.

The same methodological approach has also been applied in the new school complex in Mori, Trento, winner of the international competition organized by the province of Trento and currently in the planning phase.
